MOBILE, Ala. (April 20, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) Badgers softball team split results in a non-conference doubleheader versus the Union University Bulldogs, falling 4-2 in the first game before bouncing back to take a 5-3 victory in the nightcap on Wednesday afternoon at Murray Field.
The Bulldogs (15-27) roughed up SHC sophomore starter
Alexandra Ballester (13-6) for four runs in the 2
nd inning of Game 1 before
Paityn Desormeaux came in to stop the bleeding, but SHC could not find an answer to Union's Reese Taylor (6-7). Taylor went the distance for the Bulldogs with two hits, two walks and three strikeouts.
Desormeaux (6-3) started Game 2 after five innings of relief work in the opener, but picked up the complete-game win despite allowing 10 hits with one walk and three strikeouts. Olivia Baker fell to 4-6 on the season for Union as the Badger offense collected five hits with four walks and six strikeouts.

Macy Holt had two hits including a double and an RBI while center fielder
Airyonna Weaver picked up three RBI off a 2-run single and a sacrifice fly.
The Badgers (23-14) now take a week off before facing the University of West Alabama (UWA) Tigers (22-19) on Tuesday, April 26, in a home doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Murray Field.
