Baseball rolls to DH sweep of Lane College

JACKSON, Tenn. (April 2, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) Badgers baseball team rolled to a pair of Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) road victories on Saturday afternoon with a 20-10 and 19-2 sweep of the Lane College Dragons.
 
The Badgers came out of the gate hot and took a 6-0 lead after the first half-inning of play in opening contest. SHC hit six home runs with designated hitter Grant Akridge earning three dingers with seven RBI.
 
Colin Millar (5-3) got the win in 5.0 innings, allowing just five hits and one walk with nine strikeouts. Michael Romano took the save in 4.0 innings with six hits, three walks and six strikeouts.
 
SHC hitter racked up 17 hits with five walks and four strikeouts.
 
The Badger onslaught continued in the nightcap as SHC totaled 18 hits with eight walks and just one strikeouts. Center fielder Gage Ragona was 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI.
 
Logan Clark (4-2) went 5.0 innings for the win, surrendering just two hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
 
The Badgers (18-10; 10-4 SIAC West) will finish this 3-game series with the Dragons (6-18; 3-11 SIAC West) with a single game on Sunday at noon.
