SHC Softball takes 13-1 win over Magicians

MOBILE, Ala. (April 1, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) Badgers softball team finished a 3-game Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) sweep of the LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC) Magicians by the score of 13-1 on Friday afternoon at Murray Field.
 
Sophomore Alexandra Ballester (12-4) went 3.0 innings, allowing just two hits and two walks with four strikeouts while Paityn Desormeaux finished the final two innings with no hits allowed and one strikeout.
 
Left fielder senior Randa Day collected two hits with a triple and three RBI for SHC. Second baseman Macy Holt and first baseman Daniella Amador each slapped a triple with a RBI.
 
For the Magicians (1-14; 0-11 SIAC West), third baseman Najah Moore pushed a leadoff double in the 2nd inning and earned her team's only RBI with a bases-loaded walk in the 3rd inning. Pitcher Tiffany Blakely fell to 0-6 on the year with 13 hits and three walks with no strikeouts.
 
The Badgers (20-11; 14-3 SIAC West) next host the 16th-ranked University of West Florida (UWF) Argonauts (19-8) at Murray Field in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
