FRANKFORT, Ky. (April 10, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) Badgers softball team swept both ends of a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) road doubleheader with the Kentucky State University (KYSU) Thorobreds (11-6; 6-4 SIAC) by the scores of 14-1 and 8-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore
Alexandra Ballester (13-4) allowed just two hits with one walk and a strikeout. Catcher
Ashley Ortiz collecting two hits including a double and four RBI.
Paityn Desormeaux (5-2) pitched a complete-game 1-hitter in the nightcap giving up just a single in the first inning before settling in to rack up 13 strikeouts with just three walks.
Desormeaux helped her own cause with three hits and two RBI in the second game while center fielder
Airyonna Weaver punched three hits with a double and a stolen base.
The third game in the series was washed out by weather on Monday. The Badgers (22-11; 16-3 SIAC) will host the University of West Florida (UWF) Argonauts on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in a non-conference doubleheader beginning on Murray Field.
