MOBILE, Ala. (February 7, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team suffered a 65-46 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) home loss to the Kentucky State University (KSU) Thorobreds on Monday evening at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
The Thorobreds (6-10; 4-8 SIAC West) trailed the Badgers 25-22 at halftime, but fought out to a 38-37 edge by the end of the 3
rd quarter. KSU dominated the 4
th quarter by a 27-9 margin to seal the victory.
SHC shot 34.8% (16-46) overall and 33.3% (3-9) in 3-point attempts while making 42.3% (11-26) of their free throws. Forward
Paige Taylor led the Badgers with 13 points and
Brandy Lee added 10 points. SHC was out-rebounded 40-34 and lost 23 turnovers to 12 steals by KSU leading to 21 points off turnovers for the visitors from Frankfort.
KSU was 42.4% (25-59) in overall shooting and 20% (3-15) from beyond the arc while making 63.2% (12-19) of their free throw attempts. Gracen Kerr scored 17 points and Hannah Henderson contributed 14 points and a game-high eight rebounds. KSU lost 19 turnovers to six Badger steals resulting in just 11 points on the other end of the floor for the home team.
The Badgers (4-18; 2-10 SIAC West) will wrap up this three-game home stand on Wednesday with a 6 p.m. match against the Tuskegee College Golden Tigers (16-2; 10-1 SIAC West) at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
