Badger men take 74-68 slide at Tuskegee

TUSKEGEE, Ala. (February 22, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team finished the conference portion of their 2021-2022 season with a 74-68 loss to the Tuskegee College Golden Tigers in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play at the Daniel "Chappie" James Center on Tuesday night.

The Golden Tigers (15-11; 11-6 SIAC West) held a slim 35-33 lead going into halftime, but the second half was a back-and-forth affair with the Badgers holding a 59-52 lead with 5:36 to go in the game. A 19-2 run over the next 5 minutes by Tuskegee, however, ended any chance for the Badger upset.

Beril Kabamba scored 19 points with 12 rebounds for the Badgers while Sam Davidson pitched in 15 points, Tana Kopa scratched 14 points on the scoreboard, and Jaden Gray came off the bench for another 13 points for SHC. The Badgers shot 52.2% (24-46) overall and 50% (9-18) from 3-point range, but lost 22 turnovers to 12 Tuskegee steals. Rebounding was a close-fought affair with SHC edging out a 28-27 advantage.

DeShawn Millington led the Tigers with 19 points as Steve Dulley and Devin Booker scored 13 points apiece. Tuskegee shot 49.2% (29-59) from the floor and 22.2% (4-18) from the 3-point arc while losing 15 turnovers to five Badger steals.

The Badgers (8-17, 7-11 SIAC West) will close out the 2021-2022 regular season with a non-conference tilt at the University of West Florida (UWF) Argonauts (17-9) at 7 p.m. Friday in the UWF Field House in Pensacola.
