Badgers fall to Lane women, 93-82

MOBILE, Ala. (February 19, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team suffered a 93-82 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) home loss to the Lane College Dragons on Saturday afternoon to wrap up the home portion of their 2021-2022 season.
 
The Dragons (16-9; 11-6 SIAC West) fell behind by 22 points in the 2nd quarter, but stormed back in the second half, outscoring SHC 30-14 over the final 10 minutes of play.
 
Tyashia Bostick led all scorers with 36 points – the 4th best single-game performance in SHC women's history. Zareia Ector added 14 points and Brandy Lee contributed 11 points with 10 rebounds. The Badgers shot 50.9% (27-53) overall and 42.1% (8-19) from the 3-point arc, but lost 15 turnovers to six Lane steals for 21 points off turnovers for the visitors.
 
Kayla Simmons scored 31 points with 18 rebounds for the Dragons as four Lane players reached double digits in scoring. Lane shot 53.4% (31-58) from the floor and 35.7% (5-14) from long distance while out-rebounding the Badgers 40-25.
 
The Badgers (4-22; 2-14 SIAC West) finish the regular season on Tuesday night at Tuskegee University when they take on the West Division leading Golden Tigers (20-3; 13-2 SIAC West) at 5:30 p.m.
