MOBILE, Ala. (February 19, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team took a 74-61 victory over the Lane College Dragons in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Saturday evening in the home game for the Badgers in the 2021-2022 season.
SHC never trailed in the contest and led the Dragons (10-16; 6-12 SIAC West) by as much as 17-points in the 1
st half.
Redshirt freshman
Beril Kabamba scored 21 points with 15 rebounds for SHC while
Tana Kopa added 17 points and
Sam Davidson pitched in 11 points. The Badgers shot 47.2% (25-53) from the floor and 32% (8-25) from beyond the arc while making 80% (16-20) of their free throws. Spring Hill won the rebounding war 41-37, but hurt themselves with 16 turnovers to 10 Lane steals, resulting in 24 points on the other end for the Dragons.
Lane was led by Justin Sylver's 17 points while Kylan Haywood added 12 points. The Dragons shot 36.4% (24-66) from the field and 21.4% (3-14) from long range. Lane lost 11 turnovers to six SHC steals and shot just 62.5% (10-16) from the charity stripe.
The Badgers (8-16, 7-10 SIAC West) have won six of their last eight games and will close out the regular season portion of their schedule at the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers (14-11; 10-6 SIAC West) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
