MEMPHIS, Tenn. (February 12, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team suffered a 54-43 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) road loss to the LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC) Magicians on Saturday evening at Bruce-Johnson Hall.
The Magicians (10-11; 7-5 SIAC West) had doubled up the Badgers 22-11 by the 4:38 mark of the 2
nd quarter in route to a 28-18 cushion at halftime and a 44-25 advantage headed into the 4
th quarter.
Tyashia Bostick paced the Badgers with 22 points and 10 rebounds while
Paige Taylor pulled in 11 boards. SHC shot 23.3% (14-60) from the floor and 28.6% (4-14) from beyond the arc while making 61.1% (11-18) of their free throw attempts.
LOC shot 32.8% (21-64) from the field and 25% (3-12) from long distance will sinking 75% (9-12) of its free throws. The Magicians out-rebounded the Badgers 50-34, but lost 23 turnovers to 8 Badger steals, resulting in 23 points for SHC on the other end. Amil Mitchell had 12 points and Patrisha Lollis dominated the inside with 21 rebounds.
The Badgers (4-20; 2-12 SIAC West) will travel to Birmingham, Ala., for a Monday match up with the Miles College Golden Bears (14-5; 6-5 SIAC West) beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Knox-Windham Gymnasium.
