MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College women's basketball team defeated its crosstown rival, Mobile, 66-65 in its home opener at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Saturday.
The Badgers (1-3) snapped a three-game losing streak with the home opener victory over the Rams (0-2). Spring Hill's defense stepped up and recorded nine blocks, matching the program record that was set in 2017 against Paine College. SHC also held UM to a 16.7 shooting percentage from the three-point arc.
Spring Hill was led by freshman Iamunique Bowie for the third consecutive game. She recorded a double-double with 28 points and 11 rebounds while going 3-4 from the free throw line. On top of leading the game in the scorebook, Bowie also hit the game-winning shot in the paint with one second on the clock. Mobile was led by Mary Denman Luker, who had 18 points, two rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal.
