Women’s basketball falls on the road to UWA

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The Spring Hill College women's basketball team fell to West Alabama, 75-64, at Pruitt Hall on Tuesday night.

The Badgers started with the lead after the first quarter, 15-13, before the Tigers came back and took the lead at halftime, 38-30. SHC outscored UWA in the third quarter (18-14), but still trailed 52-48. In the end, Spring Hill fell to West Alabama 75-64 and moved to 1-4 on the year. West Alabama improved to 3-1 with its home opener win. 

Spring Hill was led by the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Player of the Week, Iamunique Bowie, who recorded 19 points, two rebounds and one assist while going 5-5 from the floor and 9-11 from the free throw line. West Alabama was led by Bria Dent's double-double that featured 23 points, 10 rebounds and five steals.

"We just never got going tonight. We were a step slow and at the end of games our youth continues to show. Tonight we had some bad turnover that contributed to this loss. Our kids have to make open shots. They have to get in the gym."
