Tuskegee overcomes Spring Hill 86-54

MOBILE, Ala. (January 8, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team suffered an 86-54 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) home loss to the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Saturday evening.

The Golden Tigers (7-7, 4-2 SIAC West) held a 38-25 advantage at halftime and built out as much as a 32-point advantage late in the 2nd half.

Jaden Gray scored 19 points with eight rebounds for SHC with Beril Kabamba adding 12 points and David Daniels pitching in 10 points. The Badger shot 32.1% (17-53) including 23.1% (3-13) from 3-point range. SHC made 63% (17-27) of its free throw attempts and lost 18 turnovers to 10 steals by the Golden Bears leading to 25 points for the visitors. Spring Hill earned a 36-28 edge in rebounding for a 12-7 advantage in second chance points.

Tuskegee was paced by Devin Booker with 29 points and Steve Dulley with 20 points. The Golden Tigers shot in impressive 57.4% (31-54) from the floor including a hefty 61.1% (11-18) from beyond the arc. Tuskegee also made 81.3% (13-16) of their free throws while losing just 10 turnovers to two Badgers steals.

The Badgers (1-11, 0-6 SIAC West) will visit crosstown rivals the University of Mobile Rams (5-10) for a non-conference contest on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in H. Austill Pharr Gymnasium.
