WILBERFORCE, Ohio. (January 31, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team finished a two-game road trip with a 75-67 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) loss to the Central State University (CSU) Marauders on Monday evening at Beacon/Lewis Gymnasium.
The Marauders (3-12; 2-10 SIAC West) grabbed an early 17-9 advantage, but the Badgers rallied in the 2
nd quarter to take a 26-24 lead at the 2:17 mark off a
Tyashia Bostick 3-pointer.
Emyria Harris expanded the SHC lead to 31-27 with bank-shot trey at 55 seconds.
SHC carried a 31-29 lead into the 3
rd quarter, but CSU responded to take a 4-point lead early in the stanza and built a 64-55 lead midway through the 4
th period. SHC trailed by 6 points with just under two minutes to play when
Brandy Lee put in a layup, but the Badgers could draw no closer.
Tyashia Bostick scored 26 points with 14 rebounds to lead the Badgers as
Brandy Lee added 13 and
Zareia Ector pitched in 11 points. SHC shot 36.2% (25-69) from the floor and 22.6% (7-31) from 3-point range while losing 22 turnovers.
CSU shot 33.8% (25-74) from the field and just 17.6% (3-17) from beyond the arc while out-rebounding SHC 57-44. Kailyn Nash scored 23 points for the Marauders with 10 rebounds as Dashanti Miller added 16 points with 15 rebounds.
The Badgers (4-16; 2-8 SIAC West) will return to home action for a 2 p.m. rematch with the Marauders on Saturday at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
