MOBILE, Ala. (January 18, 2021) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team suffered a 59-48 non-conference home loss to the Fort Valley State University (FVSU) Wildcats on Monday evening at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
The Wildcats (4-10) led 27-26 at halftime and by just 42-39 heading into the 4
th quarter, but FVSU would find another gear in the final 10 minutes, outscoring SHC 17-9 over the period to pull away for the win.
SHC shot 24.6% (14-57) from the field and 15.8% (3-19) from 3-point land while making 58.6% (17-29) of their free throw attempts.
Emyria Harris had 15 points and
Brandy Lee added 12 points off the bench as
Zariel Jordan hauled in 12 rebounds. The Badgers lost 22 turnovers to nine Wildcat steals, resulting in 11 points on the other end for FVSU.
FVSU shot 32.8% (19-58) from the floor including 25% (3-12) from 3-point distance and made 78.3% (18-23) of their free throws. Torri Myers had 12 points and Jah'ne Brown contributed 11 points. The Wildcats beat the Badgers 48-44 in rebounding, but lost 17 turnovers to seven SHC steals.
The Badgers (3-12; 1-5 SIAC West) will host the Miles College Golden Bears (11-3; 5-3 SIAC West) in a conference match on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
