JACKSON, Tenn. (January 15, 2021) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team endured a 64-47 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) road loss to the Lane College Dragons on Saturday afternoon at J.F. Lane Gymnasium.
The Dragons (9-5; 4-2 SIAC West) held a 39-27 lead at halftime and built out as much as a 17-point lead with 5:10 left in the contest.
Zariel Jordan and
Emyria Harris each scored 14 points for the Badgers while
Zareia Ector added 10 points. Jordan collected 12 rebounds and Ector pulled in nine boards. SHC shot just 18.3% (13-71) for the game including 25% (5-20) from 3-point range while making 61.5% (16-26) of their free throws. The Badgers successfully cut down significantly on their turnovers, losing 12 fumbles to nine steals by Lane.
Kayla Simmons and Brailyn Tate paced Lane with 17 points each with Simmons grabbing 15 rebounds. The Dragons shot 46.4% (26-56) from the field including 30% (3-10) from 3-point distance. Lane dominated the paint with a 53-42 rebound edge and a 40-14 scoring margin. SHC benefited from 21 Lane turnovers off nine steals, but converted them into only eight points off turnovers.
The Badgers (3-11; 1-5 SIAC West) will host the Fort Valley State University (FVSU) Wildcats (3-9) in a non-conference match on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center. Earlier this season, SHC captured a 70-66 overtime win at FVSU in an SIAC contest.
