MOBILE, Ala. (January 10, 2021) – Returning to the court for the first time since December 18, 2021, the Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team suffered an overtime 74-68 non-conference home loss to historic Jesuit rival the Loyola University (La.) Wolf Pack on Monday night at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
The Wolf Pack (9-3) trailed the Badgers 33-25 at half, but rallied to tie the game off a 3-point bucket with just 2.7 seconds left in regulation.
Tyashia Bostick had a team season-high of 31 points to pace the Badgers and added nine rebounds.
Emyria Harris pitched in 12 points including a 3-of-4 night from 3-point distance. SHC shot 41.5% (22-53) from the field including 31.6% (6-19) from 3-point range. SHC hauled in 38 rebounds, but suffered 31 turnovers to 14 steals by Loyola, resulting in 26 points off turnovers for the visitors from New Orleans.
Taylor Thomas of Loyola scored 25 points and Kennedy Hansberry contributed 17 points as the Wolf Pack shot 40% (28-70) from the field including 23.1% (6-26) from beyond the arc. Loyola lost 22 turnovers to six steals by the Badgers, allowing 17 points off turnovers while pulling down 39 rebounds.
The Badgers (3-9; 1-3 SIAC West) will next host the Savannah State University (SSU) Tigers (10-0, 6-0 SIAC East) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center in a contest rescheduled from Monday, January 3, due to Covid-19 protocols.
