ATLANTA, Ga. (September 8, 2021) – Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball freshman Airyonna Weaver earned Defensive Player of the Week honors from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) on Wednesday afternoon for her accomplishments during the week of August 30-September 5, 2021.

The 5-foot, 11-inch middle hitter out of Mary G. Montgomery High School in Mobile, Ala. racked up 12 blocks (1 solo, 11 assisted) in her collegiate debut this weekend versus four opponents that each had received votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association's (AVCA) Preseason Top 25 poll.

Weaver also added 7 digs, 3 receptions, and 14 kills to her totals at the Springhill Suites Invitational hosted by the University of West Florida in Pensacola.

The Badgers (0-4) will play the University of Montevallo Falcons (2-1) at Trustmark Arena in Montevallo, Ala. on Wednesday night beginning at 6 p.m.
