Badger ladies Light up UMobile, 1-0

MOBILE, Ala. (August 28, 2021) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's soccer team earned a hard-fought 1-0 exhibition victory over the University of Mobile Lady Rams at Library Field on Saturday evening.

The Badgers jumped on top 1-0 in just the 3rd minute of play when freshman Cecilia Light poked in a goal off an entry by freshman Ciara Bridges from the right side. From there, the midfields and defenses took command, limiting the quality shot attempts by both offenses.

Sophomore keeper Anna Brunner picked up the win by saving 3 attempts against 5 Ram shots in the first period while fellow sophomore Hannah Linss played the second half with 5 saves against 9 shots. For Mobile, starter Payton Lewis made 4 saves in 76 minutes and Anakah Madril closed out the final 14 minutes with 1 save. SHC took no corner attempts and the Rams had two second-half corner kicks.

This decision is the first win in either regular season or exhibition play for the SHC women over Mobile since a 5-2 victory at the Rams in 2007.

The Badgers will next open the 2021 regular season with a non-conference road match at Georgia College in Milledgeville, Ga. at 7 p.m. (eastern).
