Taylor prepped at Foley High School in Foley, Ala. He began his collegiate baseball career at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 2017. He played his sophomore year at Northwest Florida State College before finding a home at Spring Hill College. 

Taylor currently holds 2 athletic letters after the completion of two seasons with the Spring Hill Badgers. In 27 pitching appearances, he contended 85 innings and faced 386 batters. Taylor tallied up 83 strikeouts and as a pitcher, owns 6 of the Badgers' wins. He wraps up his time at spring hill with an exceptionally low earned run average of just 1.98 to highlight his 2021 senior season.
