Baseball finishes 4-game sweep of Tuskegee

TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team finished off a 4-game sweep of the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers on Saturday afternoon at Washington Field, taking both ends of a doubleheader by the scores of 10-2 and 5-1.

Chance Shell (2-0) was the winner of Game 1 with 4.0 innings of work and allowing just two hits with a walk and two strikeouts.

Badger 3rd baseman Norris McClure picked up two hits including a 3-run triple in the 7th inning. Center fielder Joseph Guidry continued to be hot in the leadoff position smacking two hits with a double and two RBI.

Hunter Hudson (0-1) took the loss for the Tigers (4-10) in 4.0 innings with five hits allowed with three walks and no strikeouts.

The second game saw Tuskegee claw out a 1-0 lead with a run in the 4th frame, but the Badgers exploded for five runs in the 7th to rally for the win. McClure tied the game with a double to left that plated shortstop Daniel Rodriguez, but 2nd baseman Frankie Timphony proved to be the biggest hero of the day by cranking out a 3-run homer for the lead as well as his first dinger of the year.

Logan Clark (1-0) was the right man at the right time earning the win by sitting down three batters in the 6th inning while Michael Novak finished the bottom of the 7th inning, striking out two batters and walking one. Jalan Daniels (1-2) took the complete-game loss with six hits, two walks and five strikeouts.

The Badgers (11-10) will visit Columbus, Ga. on Wednesday to take on the Columbus State University (CSU) Cougars (14-8) in a doubleheader at 3 p.m. EDT in Burger King Stadium at Ragsdale Field.
