Badgers cage Tigers, 65-61

TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team earned a 65-61 victory over the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers on Saturday afternoon at the Chappie Center.
 
SHC held a 32-21 lead at the intermission and held off a frantic comeback attempt by the Golden Tigers (6-1) over the final few minutes of play.
 
SHC freshman guard Jaden Gray scored 19 points while fellow freshman forward Beril Kabamba collected 14 points and 7 rebounds. The Badgers shot 43.2% (19-44) from the field, including 41.7% (10-24) from 3-point range while making 65.4% (17-26) of their free throws.
 
For Tuskegee, Mike Evans scored 13 points and Steve Dulley pulled in 8 rebounds with 10 points. The Tigers shot 40.4% (21-52) overall, including 20% (4-20) from 3-point distance. Tuskegee was 65.2% (15-23) on their free throw attempts, but out-rebounded the Badgers by a 29-26 margin.
 
The Badgers (2-5) will remain in Tuskegee on Sunday to face the Golden Tigers (4-6) at the Chappie Center in the final game of this four-game season series in a 2 p.m. tip off.
