MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball team earned its second consecutive doubleheader sweep in less than 48 hours with a pair of wins over first-year NAIA program the Xavier University (La.) Gold Rush on Sunday afternoon by the scores of 3-2 and 10-7.
The Gold Rush (2-3) took a 2-0 lead in the 4
th inning of Game 1, but the Badgers clawed back with three runs in the bottom of frame off a bunt RBI-single by right fielder
Carlisle Jamison that was followed by a 2-run double to right centerfield by catcher
Ashley Ortiz.
SHC starter
Hannah Brenton (2-1) made the single-run lead standup taking home the victory with 7 hits and 2 walks allowed while striking out 5 batters.
Game 2 saw SHC freshman
Olivia Indorf (2-0) battle through 4 innings surrendering 8 hits and 3 walks with 5 strikeouts before giving way to
Paityn Desormeaux who picked up her first save of the year by handling the final 3 innings with 2 hits and no walks with 1 strikeout.

Delaney Thomas both collected 3 hits in the nightcap.
The Badgers (4-2) next visit the University of West Florida (UWF) Argonauts (6-3) on Tuesday at 2 p.m. for a non-conference doubleheader at the UWF Softball Field.
