MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball team suffered a doubleheader sweep at the hands of non-conference rival the University of West Florida (UWF) Argonauts on Wednesday afternoon by the scores of 7-6 and 15-0.

Paityn Desormeaux cranked out her first home run of the season for a 3-run tally.

Hannah Brenton had a tough-luck day when after five very strong innings she allowed a go-ahead 3-run dinger to UWF right fielder Courtney McLellan with one out in the 6
th frame. Hannah completed her outing with 9 hits allowed over 5.1 innings, no walks and 3 strike outs.
The Badgers would not go away quietly as shortstop
Hannah Fillmore ripped a game-tying solo home run in the top of the 7
th inning.
UWF then put a runner at 3
rd base off SHC reliever Desormeaux (0-2) with no outs in the bottom of the stanza before celebrating a walk-off victory via a sacrifice fly by shortstop Mika Garcia.
Despite the tough loss, SHC had much to appreciate about their performance in the first game with 5 solid innings from Brenton, a 3-for-4 performance by 3
rd baseman
Delaney Thomas and a 2-for-3 effort by Desormeaux. Five more Badgers added hits to the board as SHC tagged Grace Gilbert of UWF for 8 hits and a walk. Montana Young (3-0) picked up the relief win in 2 innings of work with 2 hits and 4 strike outs.
SHC freshman
Olivia Indorf (2-1) surrender 8 unearned runs off six hits in just two-thirds of an inning as UWF coasted to a 15-0 victory in 5 innings.
The Badgers (4-4) next take on NCAA Division I opponent the Jackson State University Tigers (0-4) at Sports Force Parks in Vicksburg, Miss. on Saturday at 1:15 p.m.
