CLINTON, Miss. (October 29, 2021) – Returning to the pitch after a two-week hiatus, the Spring Hill College (SHC) women's soccer team accepted an 8-0 Gulf South Conference (GSC) loss to the Mississippi College (MC) Choctaws on Friday afternoon at Robert P. Longabaugh Field.
Currently holding second place in the 2021 GSC standings, the Choctaws (11-3; 9-2 GSC) wasted no time in taking a 3-0 lead with goals in the 2
nd, 6
th, and 14
th minutes by senior forward Beatrice Currie for the quick hat trick.
Sophomore reserve forward Olivia Gelphi later joined Currie on the scoresheet for MC with goals in the 32
nd and 35
th minutes.
After the intermission, MC picked up where they left off with a goal in the 48
th minute when Morgan Bright scored with an assist from Holly Pascoe. Gelphi finished her hat trick in the 82
nd minute and Stella French finished the day with her first goal of the year in the 85
th minute.

Anna Brunner (0-12) made four saves against 14 shots and two corner kicks while Sara Maleski (9-3) of MC faced three shots and no corners with two saves.
Hannah Linss for SHC and Camila Cevallos for the Choctaws took over in goal for the second half with Linss making three saves against three corners and eight shots while Cevallos collected one save versus two corners and two shots from SHC.
The Badgers (0-15; 0-11 GSC) next travel to Cleveland, Miss. to take on the Delta State University (DSU) Statesmen (7-6-2; 7-2-2 GSC) in a GSC match on Delta Field beginning at 12:30 p.m.
