TUSKEGEE, Ala. (October 12, 2021) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team swept a 3-0 (25-8; 25-11; 25-13) Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) decision away from the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers on Tuesday night at the Daniel "Chappie" James Center while redshirt junior middle hitter
Kassandra Fairly passed the 1,000 career kills mark.
SHC held the Golden Tigers (5-13; 5-11 SIAC) to a .014 (17-16-74) attack percentage with just 17 assists, two aces, 29 digs, and one (0-2) block. For the Badgers, the visitors racked up a .487 (43-5-78) attack percentage with 38 assists, five aces, 36 digs and six (0-12) blocks.
The story of the night, however, was Fairly reaching the 1,000 kill mark with her second kill of the first set (appropriately off the set of her sister,
Jessica Fairly), making it an early 7-0 SHC advantage. Kassandra would end the night with 10 kills in 10 attempts for a perfect 1.000 attack percentage to go along with a block assist in just two sets played.
Grace Harris distributed 18 assists with an ace, three digs and a block assist while
Mikayla Boyer did a little bit of everything for three kills, two aces, five receptions, six digs and a block assist.
Olivia Peyton continued her strong defensive season with a match-high three block assists and libero
Taylor Fontenelle scooped in nine digs.
The Badgers (22-5; 16-0 SIAC) will host the William Carey University (WCU) Crusaders (12-7) in a non-conference match on Tuesday, October 19 at 6 p.m. in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
