MOBILE, Ala. (October 1, 2021) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's soccer team suffered a 1-0 Gulf South Conference (GSC) loss to the Christian Brothers University (CBU) Buccaneers on Friday afternoon at Library Field.
The score was knotted at 0-0 at the intermission and it would not change until the 68
th minute when CBU broke onto the scoreboard with the game's only score when Caleb Tammi punched one in from out of the mix-master in front of the Badger goal following a corner kick from the right side.
Badger keeper
Alessandro Erdelyi (5-3) made five saves versus 11 shots and seven corner kicks by the Buccaneers (6-3; 2-2 GSC) while Wayne Davis of CBU made just one save versus seven shots and eight corner kicks from SHC.
SHC head coach
Chris Leonardi was disappointed at the outcome, but looks forward to another bite at the apple on Sunday. "Today was our turn to give up a set piece goal and lose three points at home," he said. "I thought it was an even contest and with a bit more luck we may have found an equalizer. The Gulf South Conference is a battle and we will go at it again on Sunday."
The Badgers (5-3; 1-2 GSC) will face the Union University Bulldogs (4-2-2; 1-2-1 GSC) at Library Field on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in another GSC contest.
