MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team lost an 82-71 non-conference decision to the University of Mobile Lady Rams on Wednesday night at H. Austill Pharr Gymnasium.
The Lady Rams (14-8) trailed the Badgers 41-40 at halftime and 58-55 heading into the 4
th quarter, but outscored SHC 27-13 over the final m10 minutes for the come-from-behind victory.
Senior forward
Tiffany Valentine of Houston, Texas led the Badgers with 20 points and 13 rebounds to move into third place on the SHC women's all-time scoring list with 1,586 points in her career. Freshman point guard Lindi Debilzan put 15 points in the buckets and sophomore forward
Mathilde Nicolas added 11 points. Senior shooting guard
Elise Reilly drained 10 points.
As a team, the Badgers shot 40.9% (27-66) from the floor and 35.3% (6-17) from beyond 3-point distance. SHC lost the ball 16 times against seven steals by the Lady Ram defense that led to a 20-7 bulge in favor of Mobile in points-off-turnovers. The Badgers knocked down 84.6% (11-13) of their free throw opportunities and controlled the boards by a 45-33 margin, resulting in a 16-12 advantage in second-chance scoring.
Four Lady Rams reached double-digits in scoring led by Lauren Bodino with 25 points as Mobile shot 39.7% (27-68) from the field and 46.7% (7-15) from 3-point range. The Rams scored on 84% (21-25) of their free throws and lost just six turnovers to a single Badger steal.
The Badgers (8-16, 7-7 SIAC West) will host Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division opponent the Lane College Lady Dragons (8-13, 7-7 SIAC West) on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center. After the game, the Badgers will honor their Senior Class teammates with the annual Senior Day ceremony.
