Tars even series at 1-1 with 6-3 win over Badgers

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team dropped a 6-3 non-conference decision to the Rollins College Tars on Saturday afternoon in Alfond Stadium at Harper-Shepherd Field.

SHC took a 1-0 lead in the 3rd inning when senior shortstop Daniel Rodriguez drove a single to right to plate Grayson Williams. Later in the 5th inning, the Badgers made it 3-0 when an infield error off a grounder by Rodriguez scored Antonio Felix and Joe Stevens followed with a sacrifice fly to bring in Williams with his second run.

Rollins scratched back a score in the bottom of the 5th frame off an error by Rodriguez and tied the game in the 6th inning following a two-run home run by third baseman Nick Santucci.

A run in the 7th inning via an RBI-single to center gave Rollins its first lead of the day and they would later tack on two more runs in the 8th inning off a run-scoring single up the middle and a throwing error on a stolen base attempt at 3rd base.

Centerfielder Joseph Guidry had two hits to pace the Badgers on offense.

Badger starter Logan Clark lasted four innings with two hits, a walk and two strikeouts as Riley Spearman (0-1) took the loss in 1.2 innings of work with six hits, a walk and a strikeout.

Drew Daczkowski of Rollins gave up three hits and allowed two walks and seven strikeouts in a four-inning start while Ryan Moore (1-0) picked up the win in one inning of relief work with no hits, a walk and no strikeouts. Kyle Bachle earned his team's first save of the year in one inning with no hits, no walks and one strikeout.

At the plate, Cameron Meehan and Adam Torres both had three hits for the Tars.

The Badgers (1-1) and the Tars (1-1) will play the rubber game of the 3-game series on Sunday beginning at 12 p.m.
