FRANKFORT, Ky. – Spring Hill College (SHC) court volleyball head coach
Peggy Martin moved within one win of tying the NCAA career wins by a head coach at any division on Saturday morning as the Badgers took a 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-16) win over the Central State University (CSU) Lady Marauders at the final match of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division Cluster in the Exum Center.
Martin's career record currently stands at 1,347-349-8 (.793) in her 44
th season with a mark of 283-68 (.806) at SHC in her 11
th year with the Badgers.
Win number 1,347 saw the Badgers fend off the Lady Marauders with a .317 (39-13-82) attack percentage including 39 assists and six service aces. The Badger defense made eight blocks and 28 digs as CSU was limited to a -.022 (22-24-89) attack percentage with three aces, seven blocks and 29 digs.
Junior outside hitter
Allison Weimer of Covington, La., paced the Badgers with nine kills while senior outside hitter
Payton Gidney of Grapevine, Texas, handed out three service aces and senior setter
Emmarose Neibert of Arnold, Mo., distributed 31 assists in a balanced attack. Sophomore middle hitter
Kassandra Fairly from Fort Walton Beach, Fla., added three blocks to her season totals as senior libero
Cassidi Sterrett of Lee's Summit, Mo., scooped in 13 digs with four assists.
The Badgers (6-4, 5-0 SIAC) will attempt to cement Martin's place in history on Thursday night at home in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center as they host arch-rival the University of Mobile Lady Rams (7-6) in a non-conference match beginning at 6 p.m.
