AMERICUS, Ga. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's soccer team picked up its first win of the 2019 campaign with a 2-1 victory at non-conference rival the Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) Hurricanes on Saturday night.

Freshman Carson Reeves of Birmingham, Ala., put the Badgers up 1-0 in the 12th minute and sophomore Olivia Odimegwu from Spring Hill, Tenn., made it 2-0 for the visitors in the 41st minute.

In the second period, Payton Johnson of GSW answered back with a tally at the 55:00 mark, but the Badger defense successfully fended off the Hurricanes over the final 35 minutes to earn the win.

Sophomore Badger keeper Kira Babiarz (1-2) of Bayonet Point, Fla., faced 13 shots and three corner kicks by the Hurricanes (1-2), making two saves while Hannah Morrone of GSW made four saves versus nine shots and eight corners by SHC.

The past three consecutive matches between the Badgers and the Hurricanes have each been decided by one goal and won by the visiting team.

The Badgers (1-2) will next host 23rd-ranked Saint Leo University (2-0-1) in a non-conference contest at Library Field on Friday, September 20, at 3 p.m.
