MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College baseball team hosted the Tigers of the University of West Alabama on Wednesday at Historic Stan Galle Field.
The Tigers scored multiple runs in each of the first six innings en route to a 16-2 victory.
The visitors jumped on starting pitcher Taylor Gibson early, earning four walks and a single in the opening half inning before the Badgers were forced to go to the bullpen. UWA added a fielder's choice RBI to take a 3-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning.
SHC broke up the shut out in the bottom of the 4th inning when Landon Powell connected with a solo home run to right field, one of only five hits the Badgers managed in the contest.
Ashton Goldring added a pinch-hit RBI single in the 8th inning to plate Spencer Miller to round out the scoring for SHC.
The Badgers (4-10) will begin Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play this weekend when they travel to Augusta, South Carolina for a series with Paine College. Play begins Saturday, March 16th, with a doubleheader beginning at noon EST.
