MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) court volleyball team finished the regular season portion of its 2019 schedule with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-13) non-conference road sweep over the University of Mobile Lady Rams on Monday night at H. Austill Pharr Gymnasium.
The Lady Rams (17-12) battled the Badgers point-for-point in the first set, but SHC used a late surge to close out the set's final five points to earn a 25-18 victory. The second and third sets saw SHC take early leads and win the races to the finish lines in 25-15 and 25-13 scores.
As a team, the Badgers engineered a .135 (30-16-104) attack percentage with seven aces as the Mobile defense earned 52 digs and 7.5 blocks. The SHC defense held the Lady Rams to a .000 (24-24-109) attack percentage with no aces while taking in 54 digs with 9.5 blocks.
Individually, senior setter
Emmarose Neibert of Arnold, Mo., collected 22 assists and senior libero
Cassidi Sterrett of Lee's Summit, Mo., had 15 digs. Sophomore middle hitter
Kassandra Fairly of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., led the Badger offense with 14 kills while freshman
Taylor Fontenelle of Spanish Fort served up six aces.
The Badgers (30-4, 18-0 SIAC) now enjoy two weeks off before beginning play in the 2019 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Championship Tournament at the Upward Star Center in Spartanburg, S.C., on Monday, November 18, versus an opponent yet to be determined. Spring Hill has secured the No. 1 seed in the tournament for the second consecutive season.
