JACKSON, Tenn. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) court volleyball team closed out the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division Cluster on Saturday morning by taking a 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-11) victory over the Central State University (CSU) Lady Marauders and a 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-10) win over the Lady Dragons of hosting Lane College.
In the early morning match with the Lady Marauders (7-12, 6-5 SIAC), Spring Hill constructed a solid .330 (42-10-97) attack percentage with eight aces and 42 assists. On defense, SHC had four team blocks and 64 digs.
Individually, junior right side hitter
Bentley Odom out of Murphy High School in Mobile, Ala., collected nine kills while sophomore middle hitter
Kassandra Fairly of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., had eight kills, three block assists and two aces. Senior setter
Emmarose Neibert of Arnold, Mo., passed around 27 assists. On defense, senior libero
Cassidi Sterrett of Lee's Summit, Mo., had 20 digs.
Next, the Badgers defeated the Lady Dragons (13-11, 7-9 SIAC) by holding their opponents to a .053 (29-23-113) attack percentage with three aces and 29 assists. On offense, the Badgers built a .324 (41-7-105) attack percentage with seven aces and 39 assists. SHC totaled four blocks and 56 digs on defense as Lane had three blocks and 51 digs.
Fairly paced the offense with 18 kills and three blocks while Neibert distributed 35 more assists. Sterrett earned 16 digs and senior outside hitter
Payton Gidney of Grapevine, Texas, served out three aces.
The Badgers (23-4, 17-0 SIAC) next plays at the 2019 NCAA Division II South Region Crossover on Friday in Hoover, Ala., versus opponents to be announced later this week.
