Badgers Fall to Central State

WILBERFORCE, Ohio - After two weather delays, Spring Hill finally was able to face off against Central State in a matchup of Western Division rivals from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAC).

Spring Hill (8-8, 4-3) got off to a fast start, shooting 53 percent from the field in the first quarter. The Lady Badgers held a 17-12 lead with 1:07 remaining in the opening frame before Central State (6-12, 4-6) went on a 23-4 run that stretched to the 42 second mark in the second period. The run gave CSU a 35-25 halftime lead.

It would prove too big a hole to climb out of as CSU maintained a double-digit lead that grew to as big as 16 points for most of the second half.

SHC struggled to get going from deep, finishing just 1-of-14 from beyond the arc. The Lady Badgers also lost the turnover battle, giving the ball away 24 times compared to the Lady Marauders who turned it over only 11 times.

Tiffany Valentine had a game-high 22 points for Spring Hill. Kate Krout finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Chervelle Cox led CSU with 15 points and 15 rebounds.

Spring Hill College will host Central State University on February 2nd at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center. The game will be aired live on ESPN3 as part of the NCAA Division II Showcase.

The Lady Badgers travel to Frankfort on Monday, January 21st, to take on Kentucky State University. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 pm EST.
