WILBERFORCE, Ohio - The Badgers traveled north this weekend for a conference matchup with the Marauders of Central State University. Snow forced the originally scheduled Saturday game to be played on Sunday.
Â
It proved to be a cold afternoon inside and outside of Beacom/Lewis Gym as both schools struggled to get going in the first four minutes. Spring Hill (5-12, 1-7) made the first basket of the game, a layup by
Justin Allison, with 16:02 left to go in the first half.
Â
That would be the score at the first media timeout, and until the 15:17 mark when Orion Monford made a three to put Central State (3-16, 2-9) ahead.
Â
SHC finished the first half going 6-of-22 from the field. CSU doubled up the visitors in the first frame, making 12 field goals including seven from 3-point range en route to a 32-19 lead at the half.
Â
The deficit proved insurmountable as the Badgers played even ball throughout the second half, but could not overcome the early deficit.
Â
SHC edged the host school in points in the paint, 16-8, and second chance points, 9-2.
Â
Allison was the leading scorer for the Badgers, finishing with 16 points including going 3-of-6 from 3-point territory.
Brandon Fischer pulled in 14 rebounds for SHC while
David Daniels added 11 boards.
Â
Tom Johnson paced CSU with 16 points and six rebounds.
Â
Spring Hill College will host Central State University on February 2nd at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center. The game will be aired live on ESPN3 as part of the NCAA Division II Showcase.
Â
The Badgers are back in conference action on Monday night, January 21st, when they travel to Frankfort to take on Kentucky State University. Tipoff is set for 5:30 pm EST.
