Badgers Fall at Kentucky State

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Spring Hill College dropped a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference road game Monday night, 90-72, at Kentucky State University.

Kentucky State used an 18-2 run to push in front by 12 points in the first six minutes of action. Justin Allison hit a 3 to push the margin back into single digits and spark a 9-0 Spring Hill run. Greysn Rogers made it a 3-point game before KSU distanced itself once again.

The first half followed the same ebb and flow as Christian Brandt pulled the Badgers back to within three points, but the Thoroughbreds regained an eight-point lead before Spring Hill cut its deficit to four points, 44-40, at the half.

KSU quickly stretched its lead to double digits in the second half, 51-40. While David Daniels later made it a four-point game, 67-63, KSU out-scored the Badgers, 23-9 in the final seven minutes.

Brandon Fischer led Spring Hill with 22 points, followed by 18 points from Allison.

Ditalion Battle scored 29 to lead four KSU players in double figures. Austin Sherrell posted a double-double 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Kevin Hayes finished with 17 and Grant Goode scored 14 and had eight rebounds.

Spring Hill (5-13, 1-8 SIAC) will return home to Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Thursday to host Tuskegee University at 7:30 p.m. on Coaches vs. Cancer Suits & Sneakers Night.
