Badgers Outrun Thorobrettes

Wilberforce, Ohio The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team defeated Kentucky State University Saturday afternoon to move to 5-0 in conference play. The Badgers claimed the victory by scores of 25-7, 25-20, and 25-19. The Badgers currently find themselves in first place in the SIAC West Division standings after the first weekend of conference play.

The Badger offensive attack was led by junior Taylor Hurst and Kassandra Fairly who each hammered down 12 kills. As a team, the Badgers produced a red hot .330 attack percentage keyed by the solid setting performance of junior Emmarose Neibert who dished out 31 assists.

The Badger defense was stalwart along the back row as junior Cassidi Sterrett and Sarah Senft had 6 digs apiece with the team combining for 41 total. SHC's defense limited Kentucky State to a .057 overall attack percentage.

"KSU was a good team effort," said Head Coach Peggy Martin.  "Fairly and Hurst had outstanding offensive performances. Due to the depth on our team, we were not "out of gas" in the 5th match of the weekend and that really paid off."

The Badgers (9-3, 5-0 SIAC) will open up their home schedule when they host arch rival University of Mobile in a non-conference match on September 19th at 6:00 p.m. in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
