MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team lost a 19-5 non-conference outcome to the University of West Florida (UWF) Argonauts at historic Stan Galle Field on Tuesday night.
The Argonauts (29-16) blew the game open early with eight runs in the 2
nd inning off Badger starter
Nicholas Dempsey (0-1), who surrendered six hits, two walks and two hit batters in 1.1 innings. In all, six Badger pitchers gave up 15 hits and 12 walks with three strikeouts.
Lucas Hunter took home the win for UWF in 4.0 innings as the game ended in seven innings due to the 10-run Mercy Rule. Hunter allowed seven hits and four walks with three strikeouts.
For SHC at the plate, 10 players collected hits with shortstop

Four batters for UWF enjoyed multiple-hit nights with shortstop Matthew Jones garnering two hits including a three-run homer in the 5
th inning and second baseman Nick Kerkman going 4-for-6 with six RBIs including a solo homer just two pitches after Jones' blast. UWF third baseman Robert Lopez got the Argonauts landslide started in the 2
nd inning with a shot out of left-center to make it a 2-0 ballgame.
The Badgers (24-17, 15-1 SIAC West) will host the Claflin University (CU) Panthers (15-26; 11-4 SIAC West) in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) game on Friday at 6 p.m. on historic Stan Galle Field.
