MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team swept both halves of a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) doubleheader away from the Kentucky State University (KSU) Thorobreds at historic Stan Galle Field on Saturday afternoon by the scores of 4-3 and 15-8.

In the opening game, SHC scored all four of their runs in the 2nd inning as right fielder Grayson Williams provided the highlight of the frame with a two-out double to left-center that brought in two runs. The Thorobreds (17-20, 7-8 SIAC West) answered back with three runs in the 4th inning and put runners on 1st and 2nd bases in the 7th inning, but Rob Ewald picked up his sixth save of the year with a swinging strikeout.

SHC starter Zach Paulene moved to 5-2 on the year with five innings of work allowing four hits with six walks and three strikeouts. Left fielder Luke Wall saw his 19-game hitting streak snapped with a 0-for-1 day that included three hit-by-pitches. Catcher Neil Ring had two hits, as did designated hitter Brennan Fontenot.

Joe Crisp (3-7) of KSU went the distance in the loss with six hits, six walks, five hit batters and three strikeouts. Catcher Bryan Wilson and second baseman Russell Sims each had two hits for the visitors from Frankfort.
