MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team earned a three-game Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) series sweep of the Lane College (LC) Dragons with 10-2 and 7-0 victories in a Saturday afternoon doubleheader at historic Stan Galle Field.
In the first game, starter
Lucas Kunkel improved to 3-1 on the season by allowing just three hits and no walks with four strikeouts over five innings. SHC jumped out to 6-0 lead in the 2
nd inning as six hits, four walks and two Dragon errors opened the floodgates for the Badgers. Centerfielder
Justin Collier smacked his sixth home run of the year in the 4
th inning while left fielder
Luke Wall collected two hits and two RBIs.
DeShawn Cole (0-4) took the loss in four innings for the Dragons (1-26, 0-9 SIAC) with seven hits, six walks and four strikeouts
In the second contest,
Zach Paulene (3-1) took home his first complete-game shutout of the year scattering three hits with one walk and two strikeouts. Another big inning in the early going posted SHC to a 3-0 lead after the 1
st frame, but Dragon starter Terrell Walker (0-5) would settle down to keep the Badgers off the board for the next four innings. Walker would bow out in the 6
th inning after giving up six hits with eight walks and a strikeout.

Keaton Smith had a hit and three RBIs while pinch hitter
Nicholas Chiasson pushed an RBI double into left with two outs in the 6
th inning.
The Badgers (15-13, 8-0 SIAC West) will host the Loyola University (La.) Wolf Pack (15-23) in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday at historic Stan Galle Field beginning at 3 p.m.
