MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team swept both ends of a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division doubleheader away from the LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC) Magicians on Saturday by the scores of 20-3 and 14-4 at Bellevue/Turner Field.
Badger starter
Lucas Kunkel (2-1) picked up the win in the first game lasting five innings with five hits and three strikeouts.
Nicholas Dempsey completed the final two innings for the Badgers. At the plate, left fielder
Luke Wall had three hits with a home run and five RBIs while senior first baseman
Keaton Smith collected three hits.
In the second game,
Zach Paulene (2-1) was the winner and allowed just five hits with six strikeouts.
Rob Ewald sat the final six batters down in order to close out the contest. Right fielder
Grayson Williams was 2-for-3 with a home run and catcher
Brennan Fontenot was 3-for-3 with a dinger as the two connected on back-to-back homers in the 1
st inning. Shortstop
Daniel Rodriguez had two hits and two RBIs while
Justin Collier mashed a homer in a 3-for-4 outing.
The Badgers (11-13, 5-0 SIAC West) will remain in Memphis on Sunday to finish this three-game SIAC with the Magicians (0-9, 0-5 SIAC West) at 12 p.m.
