ATLANTA, Ga. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team opened the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) portion of their schedule with a doubleheader sweep of the Clark Atlanta University (CAU) Panthers on Saturday by the scores of 8-2 and 4-1 at Bill Evans Field
Badger starter
Lucas Kunkel (1-1) picked up the win over the Panthers (7-11, 0-2 SIAC East) in the first game lasting 6.1 innings with nine strikeouts and seven walks. At the plate,
Grayson Williams pounded out two home runs with four RBIs while
Brennan Fontenot helped himself to two doubles and two RBIs. Shortstop
Daniel Rodriguez also collected two base hits with two runs-batted-in.
In the second game,
Jonathan Williams went 6.2 innings with eight strikeouts and a walk as
Nicholas Chiasson slapped two hits around the park.
The Badgers (6-13, 2-0 SIAC West) will remain in Atlanta on Sunday to finish this three-game SIAC with the Panthers at 12 p.m. (east).
