GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) softball team rallied to take a 6-2 victory over the Lee University Flames, but fell 10-2 in six innings to the University of Mobile Lady Rams at the Sportsplex on Day 2 of the NCAA Division II Gulf Coast Invitational (GCI).
In the first game, the Flames (1-3) held a 2-1 lead in the 6
th inning when
Brooke Vosloh tied the game with a solo homer to center field. The Badgers would the erupt for four runs in the top of the 7
th frame when
Sarah Johnson broke open the tie with a run-scoring double to left field while
Delaney Thomas made it 4-2 with a single to right,
Hannah Fillmore pushed across a run with a bases-loaded walk and Vosloh would scamper home on a wild pitch.
Hannah Brenton improved to 2-0 on the year with the complete-game effort that allowed seven hits with five walks and three strike outs.
Mobile (2-2) grabbed a 6-0 lead in the second game and never looked back as
Tiffany Hughes fell to 0-2 on the season with 11 hits, four walks, and one strike out. Former Badger
Danielle Clark (1-1) secured the complete-game victory giving up just three hits with four walks and four strike outs.
The Badgers (2-2) return to the Sportsplex on Sunday for Day 3 of the GCI to face the University of North Alabama Lions at 1:30 p.m.
