MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team lost both ends of a nonconference doubleheader to the Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) Warhawks on Saturday afternoon at historic Stan Galle Field, falling 5-0 in the opener and 3-2 in the nightcap.
In the first game,
Austin Barrios took the loss in four innings with four hits, four walks and two strike outs as AUM pitching limited the Badgers to just three hits, including a
Grayson Williams double.
The second game saw SHC take a 1-0 lead in the 1
st inning off a
Hunter Romero single to score
Gavin Crimmins, but AUM would rally to tie the game in the 3
rd frame off their own RBI single. The Badger clawed out a second run in the 5
th inning with another run-scoring single to right by Romero. The Warhawks (2-1) would find the final answer in the top of the 7
th when a triple to right-centerfield brought home the game-tying and winning runs.
Michael Romano took the loss in two innings of relief with three hits, no walks and two strike outs while
Brennan Fontenot collected three hits. Romero and Williams each tallied a pair of safeties for the home team.
The Badgers (1-2) will face the University of Mobile Rams at Jacobs Field on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
