Sailfish pull Badgers overboard, 17-3
PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team suffered a 17-3 non-conference loss to the Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) Sailfish on Friday afternoon at Jim Spooner Field in Day 1 of the Argos Invitational on the campus of the University of West Florida.

Badger junior catcher Brennan Fontenot put SHC up 1-0 with a one-out homer to left field in the top of the 1st inning and left fielder Luke Wall chopped an RBI-single through the infield in the 2nd frame to bring in right fielder Grayson Williams.

The Sailfish (5-4) then put a run across the plate in the bottom of the 2nd inning off an infield grounder, but stranded a runner at 3rd base following a quick play and throw to 1st base by Fontenot on a drag bunt attempt with two outs.

PBA would take a 9-2 lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning when a three-run home run out of centerfield by first baseman Kyle Simon sparked an eight-run outburst by the Sailfish. Simon would finish the day with two homers and four RBIs while PBA right fielder Jake Summey enjoyed a 5-for-6 day with a double and an RBI.

Jonathan Williams (0-1) took the loss for SHC in 2.1 innings with six hits, a walk and no strikeouts while Orsen Josephina (1-2) of PBA earned the win in six innings with four hits, two walks and eight strikeouts.

The Badgers (2-5) will remain in Pensacola on Saturday to take on the 2nd-ranked University of Tampa Spartans (4-2) at Jim Spooner Field beginning at 1 p.m.
