MONTEVALLO – Spring Hill College picked up its first win of the season Saturday, Nov. 10, beating Auburn University Montgomery, 72-62, to wrap up the GSC/SIAC Challenge at the University of Montevallo's Trustmark Arena.
Elise Reilly opened the game with back-to-back 3s en route to another 20-plus-point performance. Reilly finished with 22 points, giving her an average of 23 points for the week.
The Badgers opened the game with a 26-12 first quarter lead, which provided a cushion throughout the game. AUM cut the lead down to seven before the half, but Spring Hill stretched it back to double figures early in the third quarter.
Spring Hill posted its best defensive effort of the season so far, holding AUM to 33.8 percent from the floor and out-rebounding the Warhawks, 49 to 30.
Following Reilly's lead
Tiffany Valentine narrowly missed her first double-double of the season with 17 points and nine rebounds. Â Â
AUM was led by Jordan Brewster's 18 points and Evelina Avleeva's 10 points.
Spring Hill (1-1) will travel to Loyola University (1-3) in New Orleans on Tuesday, Nov. 13. Tipoff is at noon.
