Pensacola, FL – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's soccer team fell to West Florida 7-1 in Gulf South Conference action on Sunday afternoon.
Spring Hill played the host Argonauts to a 1-1 ties score after the first 45 minutes of play. UWF scored first just 41 seconds into the contest off a quick hitter to make it a 1-0 UWF advantage. The Badgers tied the score at 1 apiece when
Olivia Odimegwu notched a tally off of an assist from
Meggie van den Oever. West Florida outshot SHC 17-2 during the half but the Badgers defense would not break.
Unfortunately for the Badgers, the defense couldn't hold up in the second half under the continued pressure of being outshot again to the tune of a 14-2 advantage for the hosts in the second half. West Florida scored six unanswered, second-half goals to kill any hopes of a Badger upset on the way to the 7-1 victory.
The Badgers (1-12-1, 1-9-1 GSC) will close out their regular season with a GSC road trip to Delta State on October 25 at 1:00 PM and Mississippi College on October 27 at 1:00 PM.
