WILBERFORCE, Ohio – The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team swept to three victories at the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division Cluster hosted by Central State University (CSU) at Beacom/Lewis Gym on Friday.
SHC opened the day with a 3-0 (25-5, 25-10, 25-8) sweep of the host CSU Marauders (3-9, 3-4 SIAC) as freshman outside hitter
Allison Weimer knocked down 11 kills for a .526 (11-1-19) attack percentage and junior
Hannah Fromdahl handed out 19 assists from her setter position. Sophomore libero
Cassidi Sterrett scooped up 10 digs while serving three of the nine Badger aces on the day.
Next, the Badgers fought to a 3-1 (28-26, 23-25, 25-20, 25-15) verdict over the Kentucky State University (KSU) Thorobrettes (10-7, 6-2 SIAC) with sophomore outside hitters
Payton Gidney and
Sarah Senft recording 13 kills apiece while Fromdahl distributed 20 assists. Gidney added four aces with 11 digs and Sterrett hauled in 14 digs. As a team, SHC hit for a .215 (51-23-130) attack percentage with 10 total aces and seven total blocks (four solo and six assisted).
Spring Hill closed the day with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-14) decision over the LeMoyne-Owen College Lady Magicians (9-7, 7-3 SIAC) as Gidney added 13 more kills and seven digs to her totals and sophomore setter
Emmarose Neibert passed around 23 assists. Weimer had two solo blocks and a block assist at the net as SHC stopped six LOC attacks on the front line.
The Badgers (13-2, 9-0 SIAC) remain in Wilberforce overnight to finish play in the SIAC West Division Cluster on Saturday beginning with a 10 a.m. (EST) match versus the Lane College Dragons (3-9, 3-4 SIAC).
