Box Score 2 MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team split results in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) double header with the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers at Paterson Field as the Badgers won the opening game 9-0 only to see Tuskegee rebound to hand SHC its first conference loss of the year in a 7-1 verdict in the nightcap.
Sean Bretz (5-1) took the win over Tuskegee (18-18, 4-7 SIAC) in the opener in six innings of work with five hits, no walks and eight strike outs and
Anthony Fell closed the final three outs with no hits, a walk and a strike out. Catcher
Brennan Fontenot connected for his fifth home run of the year in a 3-for-3 game with four RBI while right fielder
Justin Collier was 3-for-4 with a RBI.
Eugene Mabota (3-5) took the loss in five innings with seven hits, three walks and four strike outs.
In the second game,
Dylan Kiene fell to 4-2 on the year in three innings with six hits, three walks and two strike outs.
Michael Romano pitched two innings of scoreless relief with two hits, three walks and three strike outs. Trey Nelson improved to 4-5 on the season for the Golden Tigers in a complete-game effort with six hits, three walks and six strike outs.
Fontenot, this time in the role of designated hitter, blasted his second homer of the day and his sixth of the year in the third inning.
The Badgers (21-16, 10-1 SIAC) will finish this three-game conference series with Tuskegee on Sunday at 1 p.m. on Paterson Field.
