Box Score 2 FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team swept both ends of a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) double header away from the Kentucky State University (KSU) Thorobreds at KSU Baseball Field on Sunday by the scores of 17-4 and 13-5.
Badger starter
Sean Bretz (7-1) held the Thorobreds (16-29, 10-7 SIAC) to four hits in the opening game to earn the six inning victory with eight strike outs and just one walk.
Spring Hill exploded for 10 runs in the top of the 7
th inning to salt away the victory as center fielder
Ulysses Fluellen and left fielder
Conner Harrison each smacked home runs in the contest. Harrison finished with a triple shy of the cycle for a four-hit, five-RBI day to pace six Badgers enjoying multiple hit in the opening game.
Joshua Owsley (3-4) took the loss for the Thorobreds in 5.2 innings with seven hits, seven walks and two strike outs.
In the nightcap,
Michael Romano (4-3) was the winner in 3.2 innings of relief for
Justin Whitsett who went 3.1 innings in the start with 10 hits, two walks and two strike outs. Romano completed the game with two hits, a walk and four strike outs.
At the plate, SHC continued its hot hitting from the previous game and scored six runs in the 1
st inning in route to 13 runs off 16 hits in total for the game. Catcher
Brennan Fontenot also came within a triple of the cycle for the Badgers with three hits and three RBI.
The Badgers (25-20, 13-4 SIAC) will remain in Frankfort to wrap up this SIAC three-game series on Monday at noon.
